Swissair's super-8 film "Hermafrodiitit" (Hermaphrodites) was shot by Mika Taanila and Jari Härkönen in 1979–1986. Taanila edited the material in 1986 and showed the film at a small super-8 festival in Helsinki using the LP "The Perfect Background Music for Your Home Movies" (1964) by The Metro Strings as its soundtrack. In 2005 Mika Taanila and Anton Nikkilä put together a new soundtrack for the film when it was shown for the second time ever at Avanto Helsinki Media Art Festival.
This soundtrack consists of seven tracks recorded by Swissair in 1980–1981 and released on Valtavat Ihmesilmälasit Records, the cassette label run by Taanila and Nikkilä in 1980–1982. "Pop City", "The Indirect Order" and "Hetropolitan Melsinki" are from Swissair's album "Saha" (1980), "Alielämää", "Toluensalko" and "Solasta solaan" are from Swissair's album "Savokasälpä" (1981), and "Baggage Claim" (1981) was first released only in 2000 on the compilation "Pilottilasit – Samples from Helsinki Underground 1981–1987" (N&B Research Digest).
"Soundtrack from the film Hermafrodiitit" was first released as a download/streaming track by N&B Research Digest in 2008.
